We'll be sending out official pleas for support soon, but here's a preview...
Our good friend (and Madeleine’s Godfather) Phil Larsen has suffered from Crohn’s disease since college. Two years ago, we were amazed and very impressed when he rode in not only one, but TWO 210-mile bike rides to raise money and awareness for the disease. The rides were created and produced by Get Your Guts in Gear, Inc. (GYGIG) and took place in Texas and New York. Phil was gearing up to ride again last year, but, on the day Madeleine was born, underwent tests that led to the devastating diagnosis of islet cell carcinoma, a form of pancreatic cancer. He has spent the last 8 months going through multiple surgeries, including the removal of his pancreas, and several auxiliary organs. Despite the challenges he has faced over the past year, he has committed to riding in this year’s GYGIG ride.
Phil is an inspiration to us, and when he asked Ted to ride with him this year in Texas, there was simply no way he could say no. What reason for not riding could he come up with that held a candle to the obstacles Phil has overcome to prepare for this race? So this year Ted has made a commitment to do something we never thought possible. Side by side with Phil, he will ride his bicycle 210 miles over Texas terrain for three days in October.
We need to raise $1900 to participate in the ride. Please, please help us out by following this link. Thanks so much!
