The Christmas week has been a blur here at the Schmidt house! My parents came down on Monday and had a blast visiting and playing with Madeleine - and watched her on Christmas Eve when we didn't have daycare. At the end of the day, we went to Christmas Eve service at St. Luke's and then came home to eat pizza and open presents. I can't believe I forgot to take pictures! I was too busy with Madeleine and trying to get her to calm down and open her gifts. She was a little cranky after church - and I only have two pictures! She has loved this plane from Uncle Tim and Aunt Jocelyn and played with it the rest of the night. Christmas Day brought Barb and John up from IL. We had a lovely ham dinner, and my parents left shortly after. Then we did presents with Oma and Opa. They took the day after Christmas daycare shift, and a wonderful time was had by all. They left on Saturday morning, and thankfully, everyone made the trips home safely.
Today we tried out Phil's new Panini maker - YUM!! The sandwiches were awesome, as was the company. While we were talking and measuring for new rugs for the Larsen house, the idea of running up to Ikea came up. Elizabeth and I packed up Madeleine and made the trip to the cities. We did find a rug we both agreed would be perfect in their house. Until we saw that it was $1200. Um, yeah, maybe not. lol. I found that Ikea has a fairly extensive children's section, and I bought her this adorable little tent, along with a new bunny friend. GM Elizabeth added to Madeleine menagerie with an orange and neon green monkey - it's adorable :)
Madeleine has been playing in her tent since we got home. She goes in and out and says, "Whee!" Clearly, we have a camper on our hands. This tent is perfect for the house, and I almost wish I had gotten two so if anything happens to this one, we have a spare.
So now we're all ready to launch into the last partial week of 2008. We have a fun dinner planned for New Year's Eve and are very much looking forward to ringing in the new year with friends. Have a great week, everyone!
