Today we headed up north to see the "tall ships" in the harbor! It was a nice day for a relaxing drive, and we really enjoyed walking along the shore. We're all going to sleep well tonight, though. Seven hours of driving, paired with about five hours of walking around in the warm sunshine in huge crowds made for a very full day. Madeleine actually fell asleep at dinner and snoozed for about the first hour of the ride back. She's in bed now - and I'm sure won't be having her usual hour or so of talking/playing with her animals before finally falling asleep. It's so hard to get her to sleep at 7:30 when it's light out until 9:00! Madeleine thoroughly enjoyed pushing Clarence in her stroller, and was good to ride in it sometimes too :)
We wandered away from the festival grounds out to the pier, and were really lucky to see some of the ships sailing in from the lake!It was so neat - they had to raise the bridge, and then the purple-sailed pirate ship came out and blasted its canons - to which Madeleine and Ted took great delight!
Then we went to a brew pub for dinner. Madeleine ALMOST made it until her grilled cheese arrived.
Almost. We now refer to her meal as our appetizer :) It was a stellar grilled cheese, though, on this amazing multi-grain bread with giant carrot and celery sticks.
