Boy were we shocked at our ultrasound yesterday!!
I could have sworn that we were having a boy from the moment we found out we were pregnant! Virtually all of our friends and neighbors had the boy vibe too, and weren't shy about telling us (it's fun to speculate :)
Well - it was clear as day at our big ultrasound yesterday that WE'RE HAVING A GIRL! She is just textbook "girl parts" - even though we couldn't get her to sit still long enough to print the shot, it could not have been clearer. Every other measurement also came out great - we're having a very healthy baby! She is currently about 9 oz., and approximately 12-16 centimeters long. We are thrilled, of course, to be having a little girl, and can't wait to start decorating and planning tea parties.
Also - for all those "old wives tales" fans out there - I was virtually split 50/50 with the Chinese lunar calendar, as well as most OWTs - but some of the ones that were "true" (take w/ a grain of salt) for me were the baby's heart rate being above 140 (she was 163 at last appt), carrying high (I'm still in that one pair of pre-pregnancy pants), and my leg hair is not growing out of control (my personal favorite OWT, for all out silliness.)
Oh - and for names... Ted and I really like Madeleine Elizabeth. There would have to be a pretty great alternative to come along for us to go with something else. :)
Happy St. Patty's day! I hope you have a chance to get some green beer :) ~ Cara and Baby Girl Schmidt (BGS)
