8/28/11 - Quarry HIll

We went out to Quarry Hill Nature Center today.  We hiked there once before, but this was the first time that we actually stopped in to the educational nature center.  It was great!  The staff guy could NOT have been friendlier, and even got a salamander out for Madeleine to touch!  He asked if we wanted to see a snake and we said no.  He asked if Madeleine would like to touch one and we said NO.

Someone asked me this week what I wanted the girls to be when they grew up, and my immediate answer was, "Happy." Upon reflection, I should added "Happy and not, in any way, in a profession or hobby that has to do with snakes."

We saw some turtles, too!  Lots of different species.  I think these were painted turtles.

This one was a bit snapping turtle.
Madeleine got up close and personal with the toad feeding session!

After the nature center, it was time to hike!
 And run...
 And laugh...
And show off Julia's first pedicure (Madeleine's idea, my execution)...
 And wave...
 And smile.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures!  We enjoyed the afternoon taking them :)
