1-6-07 Telling Ted's folks

This is how we told Ted's folks :) We went to a basketball game about half way between our house any the John and Barb's (Ted's alma mater Southern Illinois University was playing UNI at an away game 2 hours from each of us - in Waterloo). After we sat down at the game, I got up and bought some popcorn, and buried this silver fortune cookie about a third of the way down in the popcorn. Well, the folks had eaten before we went to the game, so they weren't eating the popcorn! We finally handed the bucket to Barb, (who was sitting between us) and both started eating out of it. She looks down and sees the silver glinting, and starts rooting around to see what it was. The "cookie" is so smooth that she couldn't get a hold of it. While she was struggling, we joked that we won some kind of prize like tickets to the next game. Finally, she hands the bucket to John, who was able to get the cookie out.
When he finally had it out and opened it, they read it and then looked at me and said, "Are you pregnant?" We nodded and they were overjoyed! Big hugs all around and a very good day all the way around (even though the SIU team lost).

After the game, we went to dinner at the College View Mall, and then went to the baby department to look for a little Hawkeye baby outfit. We didn't find one, but Barb bought the cutest, softest stuffed duck with a rattle in it and "Thank Heaven for Babies" embroidered on it. She was pleased to be able to buy baby's first toy, and we thought it was very sweet.
